Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) expects the ‘Lateral Thinkers’ movement to be observed by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Violence emanating from the scene had increased, derailments within the movement are repeated, and extremists are becoming spokesmen at the demonstrations, Seehofer said. He spoke out in favor of a sufficient police presence during demonstrations. One must apply the principle of ‘fighting back against the beginnings,’ he emphasized.

The Federal Office classifies a group as a suspected case if there are significant indications of anti-constitutional behavior. Thus, the office determines whether the respective movement has been proven to be extremist.
