(GermanPolicy.com) – Federal Minister of Labor Heil described the augmented minimum wage of 12 euros as being required by the welfare state. Raising the lower wage limit is also necessary because the price trend suggests it. Millions of people would be left behind without the increase. CDU expert Stracke emphasized that the minimum wage must really reach the people.
The minimum wage was introduced in Germany in 2015. It is periodically negotiated and set by a commission of employers and trade unions. The current increase is also subject to approval by the Bundestag. In July, the minimum wage increases from 9.82 Euros to 10.45 Euros.
