Presentation of the SPD election campaign (Update)

(de-news.net) – SPD General Secretary Matthias Miersch has presented the Social Democrats’ campaign for the forthcoming federal election in February, of which the primary emphasis is the preservation of industrial employment. During his address at the Willy-Brandt-Haus in Berlin, Miersch underscored the necessity of elucidating the distinctions among the various parties’ policy frameworks.

The SPD seeks to alleviate the financial burden on families by reducing taxes on wages and essential goods. Additional focal points include the stability of the statutory pension system and the safeguarding of industrial employment in Germany. What is more, the SPD intends to advocate for tax incentives for investors with the slogan “Made in Germany.” Concretely, the Social Democrats aim to invigorate the economy by subsidizing ten percent of corporate investment expenditures, including new machinery and vehicles. Projections by the SPD executive committee suggest that this bonus could elevate the gross domestic product by approximately 0.2 percent within the first year. Chancellor Scholz asserted that this initiative would provide swift and unbureaucratic assistance to businesses.

On January 11, the SPD will formally nominate Scholz as their chancellor candidate at a party congress in Berlin. The party will also ratify their electoral manifesto .
