(de-news.net) – The German rail company Deutsche Bahn (DB) and the Railway and Transport Union (EVG) have reached a tariff agreement. Specific details are to be announced on Sunday. It is known that there will be a 6.5% salary increase in three stages by the end of 2027. Additionally, the agreement includes annual one-time payments, special benefits for shift workers and union members, a job guarantee until the end of 2027, and structural tariff adjustments among various professional groups.
DB’s personnel director, Martin Seiler, stated that a reasonable overall package had been put together. The EVG’s chief negotiator, Cosima Ingenschay, mentioned that the agreement closely aligns with their demands.
While the EVG had initially demanded a 7.6% increase in wages and salaries and an additional 2.6% benefit for shift workers, the railway company initially sought to grant gradual tariff increases at a lower rate. Approximately 190,000 railway employees are members of the union. Both parties had agreed from the outset to reach a settlement before the Bundestag elections.
