Vaccination will be voluntary

by Thorsten Koch

The Minister of State of the Chancellery, Helge Braun (CDU), has stated that there should be no obligation in Germany to vaccinate against the corona virus. Everyone will be able to decide for themselves, Braun said. Anyone who declines vaccination, however, will have to accept the risk of infection. An appropriate vaccine should be available by mid-2021, at the latest.

The protective effect for the population depends on the number of people vaccinated. Given that the people with antibodies are many, citizens could enjoy a normal life again, Braun said. There could soon be new easing of the remaining restrictions because the number of cases of those infected with Corona has been decreasing. The overwhelming majority of the population has shown a high degree of responsibility within the crisis.
