Federal Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner (CDU) has welcomed the tobacco advertising ban, to which the grand coalition at the federal level has agreed. The upcoming restrictions on outdoor and cinema advertising for cigarettes will protect young people, she said.
According to government plans, poster advertising is to be gradually banned from 2022 onwards, and, to a large extent, cinema advertising and marketing campaigns to the target group of people under the age of 18. Poster advertising for e-cigarettes is to be banned from 2024. This will probably an issue of Bundestag debates on Friday, for the first time. 2016 saw a first initiative to ban tobacco advertising.
