The President of the German Bundestag, Wolfgang Schäuble, has described the Coronavirus pandemic as a new experience for mankind – not comparable to other experiences since the Second World War. Politics had fulfilled their task of preventing panic at the beginning of the crisis. Federalism worked, said Schäuble. Adequate easing should now be undertaken at regional level.
