Foreign helpers working in agriculture during the seasonal harvest may initially continue to travel to Germany. So far, it was planned to only allow the relevant permits to run until the end of May. Now it will be extended until 15 June.

Due to acute bottlenecks, the federal government allowed temporary entry of up to 80,000 seasonal workers from April onwards. Entry had previously been prohibited, due to the Corona crisis. The said quota had not increased since only 33,000 seasonal workers have entered the country, sources said. Imposed requirements for foreign workers remain in the areas of health, occupational health, and infection prevention.
