The Prime Minister of the State of Brandenburg, Dietmar Woidke (SPD), has advocated a uniform approach to the Corona crisis. With regard to contact restrictions, the imperative of distance and the obligation to wear a mask, the understanding of the population is greater if everyone pulls together, said the President of the Federal Council.
At a video conference between the East German Prime Ministers and Chancellor Angela Merkel, Merkel emphasized that coordination was and remained very important. The strategy against the spread of the Coronavirus has so far been so successful thanks to a common protective framework that has been agreed upon, again and again, between the federal level and the federal prime ministers. The federal states can adopt independent decisions, especially with regard to infection protection.
Meanwhile, the East German Prime Ministers have emphasized that the special features of the economic and social fabric of the East German states should be taken into account when it comes to designing the Federal Government’s forthcoming economic development package. In the east of the country, there are many smaller companies with little equity.
