The number of deportations of Islamist perpetrators from Germany has increased significantly over the past three and a half years. After the terrorist attack on Breitscheidplatz in Berlin, which occurred in December 2016, 177 people were deported in accordance with Section 58a of the Residence Act. According to this paragraph, it is possible to deport non-Germans if they can be shown to pose a threat to the public security of the Federal Republic of Germany.
