According to a regulation signed by Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU), more tests for the Coronavirus can now be carried out. In order to “nip the virus in the bud,” preventive series tests of all patients in hospitals and nursing homes shall be possible, said Spahn. If the person concerned is legally insured, the statutory health insurance will cover the costs. “It is much more expensive to test too little than to test too much,” Spahn explained.
Extensive testing can be carried out in the event of outbreaks of Corona disease in schools and daycare centers. Finally, people with close contact to people certainly infected should also be included in the tests. It is, therefore, possible to carry out tests on persons with no recognizable symptoms, if ordered by a doctor or official.
