The federal government takes a share in CureVac in order to promote the development of a vaccine against the Coronavirus. As Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier announced, the KfW development bank is taking over around 23 percent of the shares in the biotech company for a total of 300 million Euros. The state thereby wishes to offer financial security without influencing corporate policy decisions.
