Improvements with regard to the job market

The number of unemployed has improved in July. With 2.59 million unemployed, the number fell by 24,000 from June to July. This lowered the unemployment rate to now 5.6 percent – down by 0.1 points. “The situation on the labor market continues to improve,” said the President of the Federal Employment Agency, Detlef Scheele. “The growth in employment continues. And companies are increasingly looking for new staff,” he added. In July, 744,000 job vacancies were registered with the agency, 171,000 more than a year earlier.
