According to media reports, he said that if SPD, Greens and FDP said they would keep the pension level at 48 percent, “then the pension fund will be empty at the end of the legislative period.” The traffic light parties had to “pour pure wine for the citizens” – to the effect that the pension contributions must increase significantly if the plans of the three parties were to be realized.
