Scholz (SPD): investments as protection against electricity gaps

(GermanPolicy.com) – SPD Chancellor candidate Scholz (SPD) has promised to accelerate the transformation of the economy into a climate-neutral industry after the election of the next Federal Government. Everything will be done to ensure that Germany does not suffer an electricity gap, and to do so investing in new technologies and skills of the future everywhere.

The industry has already more than doubled its investments in climate protection within the past ten years, with around 3.46 billion Euros (2009: 31.63 billion Euros), includuding state funding, as was announced by the Federal Statistical Office. With products and services for climate protection, the companies already generated 44 billion Euros in sales in 2019. This corresponds to an increase of 61 percent compared to 2009.
