(GermanPolicy.com) – The leader of the SPD parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, Rolf Mützenich, has urged SPD leader Saskia Esken to resign from her post if she becomes a minister in the new Federal Government. Previously, the co-chairman of the SPD, Norbert Walter-Borjans, had stated that he no longer wanted to run for office in the party. “I think concentrating on one position is challenging enough,” Mützenich said. Within the SPD, it has proven useful to separate government and party posts. On the other hand, the dual leadership has proven itself among the Social Democrats, Mützenich added.
