Amount of financial aid for Ukrainian refugees defined

(GermanPolicy.com) – The Federal Government, together with the representatives of the Federal States, has found an agreement as to the distribution of the costs for Ukrainian refugees. Those affected should receive a similar level of support as do asylum seekers after their recognition. From June, then, Ukrainian refugees will receive benefits that are roughly equivalent to those of Hartz IV recipients, as well as help with integration into the labor market from job centers.

According to Chancellor Scholz (SPD), the Federal States will receive two billion Euros in support from the Federal Government, of which 500 million will go to the municipalities, which are administratively responsible for the refugees’ accommodation. North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister Wüst (CDU), chairman of the Prime Ministers’ Conference, praised the agreement as a “reasonable compromise.”
