Kretschmer, Prien: working together to reform the German asylum law

(GermanPolicy.com) – Karin Prien, one of the deputy chairs of the CDU, has called for a factual discussion about how to proceed in view of the significantly increasing number of refugees and asylum seekers in Germany – “before social cohesion threatens to go up in flames.” After Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU), Prien also called for a cross-party commission to develop joint proposals to reform the asylum law.

Prien added that the responsibility for deportations should no longer be with the Districts of the Federal States, but with the Federal Government. In fact, those who go undergruound usually evade the measure of deportation, while those who behave according to the rules are deported – families oftentimes. CDU General Secretary Mario Czaja expressed support regarding the propositions made by Kretschmer and Prien.
