(de-news.net) – Chancellor Olaf Scholz has presented a three-point strategy to bolster the steel industry. He announced an impending meeting with industry leaders, labor representatives, and unions to deliberate on specific measures, which is to take place on Monday. Scholz underscored the strategic importance of ensuring the long-term viability of steel production in Germany due to its geostrategic significance.
The strategy encompasses three principal elements: securing a stable electricity price for environmentally sustainable steel production, preserving the entire value chain, and safeguarding domestic enterprises from foreign steel dumping. Scholz urged the EU Commission to enhance protective measures for Europe.
Scholz did not exclude the possibility of state intervention in Thyssenkrupp Steel, referencing historical instances of state involvement to assist companies during challenging periods. He emphasized that such interventions are intended to be temporary, aiming to prevent potential investments from faltering due to insufficient capital.
