Funding of Deutschlandticket secured for 2025

(de-news.net) – The SPD, CDU/CSU and Greens have reached an agreement to secure funding for the Deutschlandticket in local public transport for the upcoming year. This involves an amendment to the Regionalization Act, using leftover funds from previous years. SPD Deputy Parliamentary Group Leader Detlef Müller described the agreement as a significant relief, as it provides reliability for ticket users. Union Deputy Parliamentary Group Leader Ulrich Lange explained, “We are securing the funding for the Deutschlandticket for 2025.” Green Party Deputy Parliamentary Group Leader Julia Verlinden emphasized, “People will continue to travel affordably and conveniently by bus and train next year.”

The legislative amendments are expected to be passed by the Bundestag this week, with the Bundesrat’s approval anticipated on Friday. Without this adjustment, the transport sector would have faced uncertainties, potentially leading to another fare increase. Starting in 2025, the ticket will cost 58 euros per month. Approximately 13 million people use the Deutschlandticket. The Union has also signaled its support for additional funding for the railway system.
