(de-news.net) – The Bundestag has enacted legislation for tax relief and the augmentation of child benefits. This legislative package was endorsed by all factions except the Left Group. The primary objective of the law is to mitigate the effects of cold progression by adjusting the basic tax-free allowance and income tax rates, effective January 2025. Child benefits will be increased by five euros, reaching 255 euros per month, starting from January. However, the Bundesrat’s approval is still pending, and the states’ concurrence is vital due to their significant impact from these measures. The law aimed at countering cold progression received support from the SPD, Greens, FDP, Union, and AfD. The Bundesrat will deliberate on the bill today to finalize the relief measures.
