Lindner (FDP): optimism before Bundestag election

(de-news.net) – FDP leader Lindner exhorted his party to maintain optimism and resolve in anticipation of the Bundestag election on February 23. Addressing the traditional Epiphany meeting in Stuttgart, he urged the Free Democrats to derive confidence from their extensive experience in navigating the vicissitudes of politics. Lindner underscored the necessity for a fundamental transformation in Germany’s economic policy, advocating for reliance on advanced technology rather than prohibitions to address climate change. He unequivocally distanced himself from the AfD. Lindner reiterated his call for the dissolution of the Federal Environment Agency, accusing it of pursuing an activist agenda, and emphasized the imperative of substantial bureaucratic reduction. He expressed a desire for collaboration with the Union, noting that current polls indicated the FDP’s support at a mere three to four percent.

The FDP is concentrating on the “hard-working middle” and the significant number of undecided voters in the Bundestag election, FDP General Secretary Marco Buschmann observed, stating that approximately half of the electorate remained undecided regarding their vote in February. He conveyed confidence that the FDP would persuade many individuals of their ideas and secure a strong result in the Bundestag. Buschmann emphasized the party’s dedication to freedom over paternalism, alleviation for the hard-working middle class, reduction of bureaucracy, and regulation of immigration. He highlighted the primacy of the individual, advocating for freedom of expression and private life. Buschmann urged those who share these values to vote for the FDP to fortify the democratic center.
