Spahn (CDU) advocates for stricter asylum policies and suspension of family reunification

(de-news.net) – Jens Spahn, deputy leader of the Union parliamentary group, has articulated a markedly more stringent asylum policy contingent upon his party’s success in the federal election. He asserted that individuals crossing the land border would be denied entry, as those arriving from safe third countries are ineligible for asylum in Germany. Spahn contended that Germany is “at its limit” due to the migration policies of recent years, highlighting the repercussions on educational institutions, the housing market, and public transportation hubs. He underscored the necessity of reducing illegal migration to zero, maintaining that illegal activities must not at all transpire.

Instead, Germany could admit individuals from active conflict zones through UNHCR quotas. Spahn elucidated that Germany should not cease assisting people but requires control over whom to aid and the rationale behind it. He also proposed a comprehensive suspension of family reunification, noting that approximately 500,000 individuals have entered Germany through family reunification in the past four years, a statistic absent from official records.
