Habeck (Greens) wants lower guaranteed prices for solar power producers

(de-news.net) – Robert Habeck, the Green Party’s candidate for Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs, has advocated for a reduction in the guaranteed prices for solar power producers under the EEG. He posited that enhanced marketing strategies are necessary, and those who continuously supply electricity to an overburdened grid should receive diminished compensation, in accordance with market principles.

Habeck observed that solar power is less lucrative at midday during the summer, and reducing guaranteed prices might incentivize producers to orient their solar panels towards the east and west to capitalize on more profitable periods. He underscored the necessity of transitioning from fixed electricity prices to flexible tariffs.

What is more, Habeck reproached Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder for his position in the expansion of the renewable energy grid, while maintaining the importance of a unified electricity price zone. He highlighted that Bavaria’s hindrance of renewable energy expansion through the 10H rule has resulted in elevated electricity prices.
