Electronic patient files available from March or April

(de-news.net) – The German statutory health insurance funds have successfully implemented the introduction of electronic patient records, resulting in the creation of over 70 million records. With the exception of those who have opted out, nearly all insured individuals now possess their own personal electronic patient file. According to GKV’s chairwoman, Doris Pfeiffer, this represents a significant advancement in the digitization of healthcare. These records, which centralize health data such as diagnoses and medications, have been piloted in three model regions since mid-January. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has announced that the nationwide rollout is scheduled for March or April.
