Number of deportations increased

(de-news.net) – The number of deportation flights from Germany increased last year. Preliminary figures showed that in 2024, 7,945 people were deported on 222 flights, according to a response from the federal government to a written question by BSW leader Sahra Wagenknecht. In the previous year, 6,723 people were deported on 204 flights, and in 2023, 5,024 people on 158 flights.

Wagenknecht criticized the current deportation practices, noting that with more than 200,000 people in Germany required to leave, nearly 8,000 deported by plane did not represent a success. She suggested that the federal and state governments should review policies after the election to further increase the deportation of violent offenders.

In 2024, 220,808 people in Germany were classified as required to leave because their asylum applications were rejected. However, 178,512 of them had “tolerated” status, meaning deportation was not possible due to humanitarian or legal reasons.
