Kretschmer Urges Drastic Reduction in Asylum Numbers

(de-news.net) – Michael Kretschmer, the Minister President of Saxony, advocates for a considerable reduction in the number of asylum seekers following the Munich attack. He is optimistic that the Social Democratic Party (SPD) will endorse this strategy in a prospective governmental coalition. Kretschmer underscored that individuals who perpetrate violent acts should be deprived of their refugee status and deported expeditiously, even before committing major offenses. He contended that the current number of people in the country impedes thorough checks.

Kretschmer proposed decreasing the annual influx of asylum seekers to 20,000-30,000, as opposed to the current range of 200,000-300,000. He highlighted the necessity of a decisive electoral triumph for Friedrich Merz to implement these measures. Kretschmer conveyed confidence that these changes would be realized and noted that numerous SPD members are dissatisfied with their present situation, feeling constrained by the Greens. He asserted that addressing this issue is vital for maintaining the SPD’s significance.
