(de-news.net) – Germany remains the third-largest economy globally, with a gross domestic product (GDP) of approximately $4.66 trillion last year, as calculated by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research (IW). This places Germany ahead of Japan, which previously held the third position. The United States leads with an economic output of $29.7 trillion, followed by China at $18.9 trillion. Despite a recession, Germany has nearly maintained its gap with Japan, according to IW Chief Economist Grömling. However, both countries have fallen further behind China and the United States due to their poor economic performance. Germany might be overtaken by India in the medium term.
