(de-news.net) – The Green Party has rejected the CDU/CSU and SPD’s proposed financial package under current circumstances. Members are advised by the party’s leaders to oppose the special fund as well as the constitutional amendment. The Greens call on the CDU/CSU and the SPD, most likely part of the future government, to first make earlier pledges to climate protection and national investment.
SPD leader Klingbeil and CDU General Secretary Linnemann are still hopeful of a deal. The CDU/CSU and SPD want to unlock hundreds of billions of euros in the form of a special fund for infrastructure investments and on defense spending. Both plans call for constitutional changes. Those can only be accomplished with the backing of the Green Party and require two-thirds majorities in the Bundestag and Bundesrat.
