(de-news.net) – Federal Minister of Education and Research, Karin Prien, has announced the establishment of a scientific expert commission which is to examine the use of smartphones in schools. She emphasized that this use of mobile phones constitutes a significant challenge, particularly concerning the concentration abilities and overall well-being of children and adolescents.
In an interview the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician expressed her opposition to the use of mobile phones in elementary schools. She referred to such schools as “protected spaces” in which children should neither be exposed to social media nor engage in digital communication via electronic devices. Simultaneously, Prien underscored the importance of media education, asserting that children must be equipped with the skills that are necessary to navigate the complexities of the digital world.
