Özdemir is lead candidate of the Greens in Baden-Württemberg

(de-news.net) – Cem Özdemir has been formally designated as the lead candidate of the Green Party for the 2026 Baden-Württemberg state election. During the state party convention held in Heidenheim on Saturday, the former Federal Minister of Agriculture secured an overwhelming majority, receiving 97 percent of the delegates’ votes.

In his nomination address, Özdemir articulated a vision centered on the continuation of the policies established by his predecessor, Winfried Kretschmann, also of the Green Party. Özdemir underscored the imperative for sustained ecological transformation and enhanced energy autonomy within the region.
