(de-news.net) – Matthias Miersch, parliamentary leader of the SPD, has advocated for a socially tiered approach to heating system subsidies, contending that affluent individuals are not dependent on substantial financial aid for replacements. Despite supporting the subsidy’s continuation, he anticipated a marked rise in CO₂ prices, which could render conventional heating systems prohibitively expensive for many households.

Miersch therefore stressed the importance of robust support structures to mitigate financial burdens. He opposed fundamental alterations to the Building Energy Act, emphasizing the need to streamline bureaucratic procedures and integrate environmental considerations into building assessments. He also cautioned that minimizing climate policy efforts within the sector would be a negligent course of action.

As outlined in the coalition agreement between the SPD and CDU/CSU, the “Heating Act” is to be repealed, followed by a revision of the Building Energy Act aimed at enhancing technological openness, flexibility, and simplicity.
