Development Ministry pursues structural reform amid budgetary constraints

(de-news.net) – In response to significant fiscal reductions, Federal Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan has initiated a series of structural adjustments within her ministry, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and strategic orientation of German development policy. The Minister has reportedly affirmed her intention to undertake a comprehensive reorganization of the sector, stressing that the prevailing financial conditions necessitate achieving maximum developmental impact with limited resources. This, she noted, requires a more efficient institutional framework and optimal allocation of available funds.

According to media sources, Alabali Radovan underscored the importance of exercising prudence when determining future programmatic exclusions, citing the potential repercussions for partner countries and Germany’s international reputation. Nevertheless, she confirmed that concrete outcomes of the reform process would be presented by the end of the year.

The Minister has previously identified migration and displacement as central thematic priorities. She indicated that future aid efforts would be concentrated on regions in close proximity to Europe, specifically the Sahel, the Horn of Africa, and the Near and Middle East. This recalibrated regional focus reflects Germany’s strategic response to evolving geopolitical dynamics and humanitarian challenges.
