(de-news.net) – The preliminary official final results of the state election were released overnight on Monday by the State Statistical Office of Baden-Württemberg. According to the figures, the distribution of seats in the state parliament reflects a notable balance between the two leading parties: the Greens and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) each secure 56 seats. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) obtains 35 seats, while the Social Democratic Party (SPD) is represented with 10 seats in the legislature.
However, the results of the second vote—used to determine the proportional strength of the parties—indicate that the Greens have emerged as the strongest political force, receiving 30.2% of the vote. They are followed closely by the CDU with 29.7%, highlighting the narrow margin between the two largest parties. The AfD ranks third with 18.8%, placing it at a significant distance behind the leading pair but well ahead of the smaller parties.
With 5.5% of the vote, the SPD narrowly surpasses the 5% electoral threshold, thereby securing representation in the state legislature despite its relatively modest result. By contrast, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) fails to return to the parliament, obtaining 4.4% in what had previously been regarded as one of its traditional strongholds. The Left Party records the same result of 4.4%, leaving it below the required threshold and therefore short of the entry it had hoped would mark its first appearance in the Baden-Württemberg state parliament.
