According to the Union parties, there is currently no way to adopt the so-called basic pension in the Bundestag, parliamentary faction leader Ralph Brinkhaus (CDU) has said. In addition to a viable financial concept, which is currently lacking, there must be an ensured provision of needs. Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil and Minister of Finance Olaf Scholz (both SPD) had not given the latter points, Brinkhaus criticized.
From the beginning of 2020, the so-called basic pension should improve the entitlements of 1.3 million low earners, who have been able to pay at least 33 years of contributions to the pension insurance.
