On Thursday, the number of Coronavirus cases in Germany was 933 higher than on Wednesday – totaling 172,239. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 89 dead. 7,723 people have now died from Corona complications or while suffering from Corona disease. According to the latest RKI statement on Wednesday evening on the the R value, the latter has dropped to 0.81. A sick person thus infected fewer than one other person.
In the meantime, the Bavarian Prime Minister Söder (CSU) welcomed the steps towards easing border controls, while remaining careful. Like Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer (CSU), Söder expressed his position that controls should be extended should the number of infections increase significantly again.
