Many people in the meat industry in Germany have recently contracted the Coronavirus. Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) has announced that Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) will, in consequence, present a paper on the issue. According to Merkel, recent news from the slaughterhouses is terrifying. There were shortcomings in lodging conditions. Heil said there had to be measures. These would be decided upon on Monday, among the so-called Corona cabinet. Heil referred to the working and wage conditions and suggested that subcontracting and contracts for work should be put to the test. Official controls should also be conducted in a frequent and binding manner.
