German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has praised the decisions of the federal and state governments in the Corona crisis as “sensible and moderate”. The restrictions are massive, but serve to protect health and life. Steinmeier said he was happy about debates concerning the pandemic, too – as long as there was no uncertainty and moody agitation against ‘those up there’: elected politicians, reputable journalists and scientists. There were hard political goals behind conspiracy theories in the ongoing Corona pandemic. Hatred and racism should not be tolerated.
The German basic values are deeply rooted and highly valued, according to Steinmeier. Responsible citizens had accomplished much with the collective, social efforts to flatten the infection curve.
