EU aid: Dobrindt in favor of a compromise

The country group leader of the CSU in the German Bundestag, Dobrindt, has spoken out for a compromise in the discussion about Corona aid for EU countries in need. One sould combine the concepts of France and Germany on the one hand and Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden on the other, Dobrindt suggested. Both approaches are within the framework of the European treaties, he said. However, the financial volume should not be exceeded. What should also not occur was that national budgets be redressed through EU Corona aid.

Chancellor Merkel, together with French President Macron, has proposed a rebuilding fund of 500 billion Euros in grants. In a counter-draft, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden proposed a loan approach.
