Left and SPD want to implement redistribution program together

The party leaders of the SPD and Left want a red-red-green coalition constellation after the upcoming federal election. Leader of the Left party Katja Kipping commented: “Without redistribution, after Corona, there is a risk of cuts in education, culture, the social sector, and environmental protection. To prevent this, we need majorities left of the Union, including in the federal government.” One needs perspectives for a change of society, stated her colleague Bernd Riexinger.

Norbert Walter-Borjans, who heads the SPD, also wants to seek majorities outside the Union. One cannot talk to the Union about reducing inequality, he said. He confirmed speaking in line with SPD co-head Saskia Esken. Germany should not be permanently governed by a grand coalition, he hinted, calling for everyone to engage in “movement”.
