No agreement yet on financial support for poorer countries

At a joint video conference, EU development ministers did not yet agree on financial support for the poorer countries, as a result of the Corona pandemic. The German development minister Müller (CSU) criticized that no additional support for the overly challenged states, such as several states in Africa, has been provided so far. If the pandemic were not tackled worldwide, infections would reoccur, sooner or later, in countries that have recovered from the pandemic. Müller hopes that a European Investment Bank program will be launched. Such a program could provide grants and loans of up to 50 billion Euros.
