Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier (CDU) hopes for a rapid and significant upswing in the German economy: “I expect that we can turn the corner towards new growth in the second half of the year. According to the government’s forecast, robust growth of 5 percent is possible for 2021. That is our goal.” Numerous companies had found new sales channels during the Corona pandemic and its aftermath, Altmaier added. The Federal Government has put together the largest stimulus package in Germany’s history. Now government spending would have to be consolidated again, and soon, so that the additional debt would no longer be necessary, concluded the Minister of Economics.
