The international donor conference for vaccines and treatments against the Coronavirus has been successful. There were pledges of aid of 6.15 billion Euros of aid, which will be given out as loans and guarantees. 383 million Euros stem from Germany. Chancellor Angela Merkel said in a video message: “Vaccines, tests and medicines must be available, affordable and accessible worldwide.”

Germany alone provides 282 million Euros. The USA and Canada also commit large amounts.

At the beginning of May, Germany had already promised 525 million Euros for the CEPI vaccine alliance, the GAVI global vaccine alliance and the World Health Organization WHO, which cooperate with product developers.
