In a vote, the Bundestag decided that the GDR state security files will be transferred to the Federal Archives. They should continue to be accessible to German citizens, the media, and scientists. In the future, people should even be able to view data about themselves digitally, as well as at additional locations. The office of the Federal Commissioner for the State Security Files is to be dissolved.
