A new formulation in the Basic Law, the Federal German Constitution, was initiated today by Federal Interior Minister Seehofer and Federal Justice Minister Lambrech. The Federal Government with its ministers have to give their approval on Wednesday, and a two-thirds majority by the German Bundestag is then required.
After alternative formulations such as “ethnicity” had not met the approval from the CDU-CSU, Article 3, Paragraph 3 will in future say the following:
“Nobody may be discriminated against because of their gender, their descent, for racist reasons, because of their language, their homeland and origin, be disadvantaged or preferred because of their beliefs, religious or political beliefs. Nobody may be disadvantaged because of their disability.”
