Merkel calls for a quiet Easter

In a video podcast, Chancellor Angela Merkel has called on Germans to minimize their contacts with other people during the Easter holidays. Thus, a quiet Easter in a small group would be possible. Citizens should avoid unnecessary travel so that the health system would not reach its limits in the Corona pandemic. “With our behavior we can slow down, stop, and then reverse the growth in the number of infections,” said Merkel. It is about doing everything possible so that the health system can withstand the challenge, she added.

Merkel also expressed an urgent request to refrain from all non-mandatory trips. With tests and vaccinations, we now have “two very tangible helpers that we didn’t have in the last year” to control the pandemic and, finally, overcome it, she added.
