The Ifo Institute in Munich has announced that companies in Germany are planning new hires despite the Corona pandemic. The industry sector in particular, and especially the electrical industry, would like to hire new staff. The service sector, especially logistics and IT companies, would also like to discontinue. This is the result of the monthly Ifo survey. The employment barometer meanwhile rose to 97.6 percent. That is 3.1 percent more than in February, and a high since February 2020.

On the other hand, the German Association of Towns and Municipalities warned that the companies in the inner cities were facing job cuts. Thousands of retail stores, in the double-digit range, could not reopen in the medium term. The General Manager of the association, Gerd Landsberg, demanded that the pace of vaccinations should be accelerated.
