Laschet wants ‘bridge lockdown’ of two to three weeks

A “bridge lockdown” proposed by CDU chairman Armin Laschet could minimize the Corona incidence value to 100 if it was maintained for two to three weeks. This way, easing of limitations in the face of the pandemic would be conceivable. Laschet said during the Morning Magazine of ARD and ZDF that his was a simple proposal, but one which would open up new possibilities, “which the citizens hope for,” in a joint effort to reduce public life. Thanks to vaccinations, Germany is will in the last phase of the Corona pandemic, Laschet hoped. But first, it is necessary that the number of new infections decrease.

The parliamentary group leader of the Union in the Bundestag, Ralph Brinkhaus, supported Laschet’s proposal: “Until the proportion of vaccinated people in the population is high enough, we must protect health and contain Corona infections for a clearly limited period of time with a ‘bridge lockdown,'”said Brinkhaus. Laschet’s proposal is therefore correct, he added.
