Saarland Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) has emphasized the claim of the Union parties to remain true people’s parties and to reach the 37 percent mark in the September Bundestag elections. In June, the Prime Minister of Anhalt, Rainer Haseloff, had already pointed out that a result as high as this for the Union parties was possible. However, the election campaign would be difficult, Hans was a bit more cautious this week. The 37 percent goal would have to remain such in the long-term, at federal level. The Union stands united behind Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet, Hans emphasized. What was important is that all possible Union voters had to be enthusiastic about the politics of the CDU and CSU.
