Scholz: expanding sustainable energies faster

(GermanPolicy.com) – The SPD candidate for the office of Federal Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, would like to see renewable energies expanded more quickly. For this there must be changes in the law so that CO2 neutrality can be achieved by 2045. With regard to a coal phase-out by 2030, as the Greens are calling for, Scholz opted for realism. He sees scope for a coal exit as early as 2038. At the same time, one must ensure that companies can fall back on wind and solar energy, Scholz said, adding that the sooner renewable energies are available, the faster you can get “out of coal.” The focus must be on building wind turbines, for example, and installing solar panels on roofs.
